Energy Management & Controls
>> Learn Energy Management & Controls
Effective building management requires a solid understanding of both preventive maintenance and energy efficiency. This course equips you with the skills to streamline building operations, reduce energy costs, and communicate strategic energy initiatives to stakeholders.
You’ll explore the fundamentals of HVAC control systems and develop comprehensive energy management strategies across HVAC, electrical, and lighting systems. Through a combination of theory and practical application, you’ll learn to assess current systems, integrate new technologies, and design cost-effective maintenance and energy plans.
Topics include the operation and maintenance of system controllers, auxiliary devices, and computerized control systems—including electronic and pneumatic components. You’ll also dive into key concepts like variable air volume (VAV) systems, building pressurization, and system optimization tools such as programmable logic controllers (PLCs).

Brandon Canterbury
Stationary Engineer
In my 14 years as a Stationary Engineer, my experience in life and in my career has traveled light years in such a short period of time, and for that I am thankful. My career change that I made was one of the best decisions in my life. Not only has it helped me start a beautiful family, but it has also set me up for more success into the future. Now, as a SEAS Instructor, I not only gained another skill set in teaching fellow Engineers, it also has provided another pathway towards success and to also show others that hard work and persistence pays off if you put the time and effort in.
I have never looked back since I began this career path. It has treated my family and I with countless memories and great experiences. I will always be grateful for those that I have met along the way and also those who helped motivate me to keep learning and growing and to never stop.
